DON’T SKI OR SNOWBOARD? No problem!

  • March 18, 2019

Breckenridge, more than just a ski town featuring photos of sledding, hot air balloons, sleigh rides and ice fishing.

Breckenridge has taken several top honors as one of the most popular ski destination in North America and also, one of the best places to live! With a 94″ snow depth this season so far, this makes it one of the best ski seasons in Breckenridge since it’s opening day, December 18, 1961.

We are proud to be known as one of the top places to ski & snowboard. However, we realize not everyone is into skiing – and we are thankful as it would be way too crowded on the mountain!

Here are some of our favorite off-mountain activities – you should try at least one or two, they are all a great way to experience the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Sledding

Sledding is fun for kids of all ages – no matter how old you are! And sledding at Carter Park is free and it has been the favorite sledding hill for all local kids. Pick up a sled at City Market and let the fun begin – you won’t be able to stop laughing!

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is not only an amazing way to get great exercise, but it also allows you to experience the back country and it’s quiet tranquility. You truly can get away from it all. Here are suggestions for Three easy snowshoe trails.

Sleigh rides can be very romantic! Imagine yourself being pulled through snowy terrain by beautiful horses! Try a dinner sleigh ride – it is a great way to experience the beauty of the outdoors and get a great meal, as well! Contact Breckenridge Sleigh Rides – they are awesome!

Snowmobiling

Want an adrenaline rush? Try snowmobiling! It is a true adventure and a wonderful way to experience the back country with a total thrill! Experienced guides will make sure it is a fun and safe experience. Contact High Country Tours to plan your tour.

Ice Skating

Ice Skating is fun for the whole family and a memorable way to spend the day while others are on the mountain. We have an amazing ice arena right in town! You can just go for some loops or impress everyone with your axel jumps, camel spins or a death spiral. Go to the Stephen C. West Ice Arena website to find opening times, programs and rental fees.

Dog Sledding

Dog sledding is another amazing way to experience and see the Rocky Mountains! You will be pulled by Siberian Huskies on an interactive sled ride! This is a completely unique and thrilling experience. You will take home great memories and, hopefully, great actions shots and videos.  Go to Good Times Adventures – they have tons of experience and wonderful guides!
