18 Other Things to Do in Breckenridge This Winter

  • November 13, 2018

18 Other Things to Do in Breckenridge This Winter Let’s face it, we’re no longer just a ski resort. Yes, make no mistake about it, Breckenridge Ski Resort put our old mining town on the map, but as purveyors of a slope side hotel in Breckenridge we seem to be getting more and more requests for “What else can we do this winter besides skiing or snowboarding?” And, our answer to this question is naturally “You have a variety of other options to sink your teeth into, we’re so much more than just a ski town!” So, allow me to answer this question now in more detail with my top 18 other...

5 Ways to Do Breckenridge on a Budget

  • August 23, 2017

The secret is out … Breckenridge, Colorado is not just a winter destination. Sure, the 300+ average inches of snow a year brings its share of snow enthusiasts, but with more and more year-round activities to take part in, Breckenridge is quickly becoming the place to be all year long. Par for the course, however, is that with increased visitation comes higher costs. Visiting a vacation town like Breck – or any other vacation town for that matter – will undoubtedly be a little pricey, so the following is my list of how to stretch your almighty dollar while visiting our mountain paradise. 1....

  • June 28, 2017

There is nothing like golf in the high country! Summit County offers world-class golf open to the public on a daily basis. With 5 courses to choose from, you’re bound to find your new favorite place to play. Come stay at our conveniently located Breckenridge hotel, take advantage of our short season and play today! At or above 9,000 ft. the air is thin and the ball travels further - over 10% further in fact (feet above sea level x .00116)!  The ball also stays straighter due to the air being less dense. The air imparts less force on the ball, therefore it won’t slice or hook as much as it would...

Don’t Ski? Don’t Worry.

  • March 6, 2015

Breckenridge is still the place for you! When I moved here from Jersey in December '99 it was because I had visited and found the mountains absolutely spiritual. I felt I was home in a way I never had before. Mind you I will bust out my Inner Jersey Girl in a hot minute if you dare mention that ridiculous show about idiots when I tell you where I'm from. I have never met anyone who acts even close to anyone on The Jersey Shore.  And I have known some Italians.  Believe you me!  Ahem. But though I'll always be a Jersey Girl, Breckenridge is where I belong. Having worked at the Wedgewood...

Wheely Impressed with Summit Express

  • December 4, 2014

This week we had the distinct pleasure of meeting with Val, our rep with Summit Express, for some BLTs and chit-chat. Surprisingly, Sarah and I forgot to ask Val if she is a fan of the Walking Dead. Because Sarah and I? Are apocalypse obsessed. Just ask Joel at Charter Sports who stops by rather often to talk about skis.  And zombies. I'm sure Brigitte and Kate were relieved. Ahem, where was I?  Ah, yes.  BLTs.  And the awesome Val.  Seriously?  Val is great.  And we all had nice chit-chat, lack of apocalypse plan discussion notwithstanding. Oftentimes...

Splish-Splash!

  • August 3, 2014

Typically I spend my birthday whistling nonchalantly and pretending I don't know what day it is.  Well, that's what I've been doing for the past four or five years anyway.  That wasn't the case this year.  This year I decided I wanted to start off the home stretch of my thirties with a big splash. At the Wedgewood Lodge we work with Performance Tours and they give our guests a discount.  I contacted Kevin to book our trip and then spent the following two weeks riling my children into a feverish frenzy of excitement.  Because how else do you think Moms have fun? On...

It’s All Downhill from Here

  • June 25, 2014

I have not ridden a bike much at all in the past twenty years.  The extent of my biking prowess is giving my all to keeping up with my seven and four-year-old on a jaunt around the block.  And, even the round-the-block jaunts find me a little wobbly.  When someone says, "Don't worry, it's like riding a bike," it gives me pause. So when an e-mail reached my inbox informing me that the front desk gals, of whom I am one, were going to be taking the Vail Pass Bike Tour with Charter Sports (because it's really a good idea to have some notion of the activities we are suggesting to guests...
